IMA drilling machines

IMA drilling machines offer the following features:

drill head

The drill head can be raised, lowered and turned around the pillar to permit convenient drilling in different positions. An adjustable gripping device prevents the drill head from sliding down the pillar when the locking device is released.

gearbox

Gears are made of steel and fabric laminate for quiet running. All shafts are made of toughened steel. Hardened clutch units are also utilized. The IMA model IG 30 drilling machine has four mechanical speeds, giving eight spindle speeds by means of the two-speed motor.

motor

The motor is of the squirrel cage type and is wound as a two speed motor.

drill spindle

The drill spindle is made of steel and uses adjustable journals in the ball and roller bearings. The roller bearings are fitted around the spindle taper, thereby offering firm gripping of the tools. The spindle nose is threaded for attaching milling tools etc. The spindle is counterbalanced by means of a powerful adjustable spring.

depth stop

The depth stop is placed on the front of the machine. It is easily accessible and convenient to read.

table arm

The table arm can be raised, lowered and turned the pillar. The table is rectangular and is provided with t-slots and an oil groove. The IMA models IGM 30-8 and IBM 30-8 drilling machines are provided with automatic spindle feed. This is engaged by turning the hand wheel and disengages automatically when the preset drilling depth has been reached or when the hand wheel is given a further turn. Then the spindle automatically returns to its original position. Both models are provided with a safety clutch which comes into operation if the spindle feed is overloaded. On the front of the machine there is a precision feed knob for milling etc. The feed gearbox gives the spindle for different feed speeds.

tool pusher

A tool pusher is built in. The tool can be very easily ejected from the spindle taper.
